How many bags of topsoil in a cubic yard?

At about 0.75 ft³ per bag it takes roughly 36 bags to make a cubic yard, so bulk delivery is cheaper for big jobs.

How deep should topsoil be?

For a new lawn, 3–6 inches; for raised beds, fill to the depth of the bed. Set the depth to your target.
